DESCRIPTION

     War Planes is composed of shots taken from a window in the underside of a plane during the Allied bombing of Schweinfurt, Germany in 1943.  Stricken enemy planes catch fire and go up in smoke as they dive to earth in footage that has a visceral effect.  The images appear in negative and have been altered to look like animated drawings, distancing them from the original film and no longer referring to a specific war, but to warfare in general.
